Recently, Department of High and New Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China held a project assessment meeting regarding the project feasibility of the Twelfth Five-Year national science and technology support plan in Beijing. The project “Energy efficiency improvement on coal-fired boiler and energy contract management and demonstration” organized and applied mainly by CSEI has passed the project establishment assessment on this meeting.

On this meeting, CSEI’s delegation systematically introduced this project from 12 aspects such as mission requirements, organization advantages and research basement, the experts were satisfied since this project had highlighted research tasks and contents, highly connected tasks which were set appropriately, clear technical approach, clear technical and innovative key points, full analysis on risks and assessable indicators on expected results. So they suggested to start this project as soon as possible.

CSEI planned to conduct this project from Jan, 2013 to Dec, 2015. It is the first time that CSEI played a leading role in applying for a special equipment energy saving project which received more than fifty million Yuan of financial supports from national science and technology plan projects. This is also the second time that CSEI received financial supports from national science and technology plan projects (The first project is risk based research on key technology of special equipment accident prevention). This project plans to complete 3 tasks—development and demonstration on technology and equipments of high efficient pulverized coal boiler island, high energy efficient boiler equipment and development on operation technology and management and demonstration on energy contract, research and demonstration on SO2/Nox control technology for layer boiler cooperating with combustion process.

Experts believe that the implementation of this project will make contributions to build an innovative system on scientific research, engineering application, standard-setting and supervision, and it will also play an important role in promoting the energy saving, emission reduction of China’s coal-fired industrial boilers and sustainable development.
