The 2018 national special equipment safety and energy saving academic conference and the science and technology achievements exhibition was held in Kunming, Yunnan province from Nov. 27 to Nov. 30 under the guidance of the Technology and Finance Department and the Special Equipment Safety Supervision Bureau (SESA) of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and sponsored by the Special Equipment Science and Technology Cooperation Platform (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperation Platform).

As an important biennial conference of the special equipment field, more than 400 people attended the event, including relevant leaders from SAMR, Yunnan province government and personnel from Chinese academy of Engineering, China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as CSEI), colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, industry associations and enterprises.

Chen Gang, member of the Party group of SAMR summarized the development achievements of the special equipment science and technology work in recent years. He pointed out that since the Cooperation Platform’s establishment in 2009, it experienced nearly 10 years’ development, integrated the scientific research strength and funds of the special equipment inspection system, opened up scientific research channels for the grass-roots special equipment science and technology teams, and made significant contributions to the development of special equipment science and technology. In recent years, the scientific and technical workers of special equipment have been specially set up to meet the major strategic needs of the country, served economic and social development, and has provided comprehensive support for major projects such as west-east gas transmission, south-to-north water diversion and nuclear power facilities, as well as major activities such as the Beijing Olympic Games, the Shanghai World Expo and the G20 Summit.

Lin shuqing, president of CSEI and chairman of the Cooperation Platform and shen Gongtian, vice president of CSEI, and one of the main founders of the Cooperation Platform made important speech. Li Helin and Qin Yukun, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, brought weighty and frontier academic reports respectively. Participants gathered in the spring city, harvested academic fruits, and experienced an academic "feast".
