From Oct. 10 to Oct. 13, World Conference on Acoustic Emission – 2017 (hereinafter referred to as WCAE-2017) was ceremoniously held in Xi’an. The conference was hosted by Shen Gongtian, researcher, Chairman of the conference, Director of International Society on Acoustic Emission, NDT Branch Director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society & Vice President of CSEI. Mr. Allen Theodore Green, Honorary Director of International Society on Acoustic Emission & founder of AEWG, Professor Gary Qi, Vice Director of International Society on Acoustic Emission & former Chairman of AEWG, Mr. Hartmut Vallen, Chairman of EWGAE, professor Tomoki Shiotani, executive member of JCAE & former Chairman of AEWG gave welcome address. 92 representatives from 10 countries attended the conference.

WCAE-2017 is the 4th academic conference sponsored by ISAE. The opening of WCAE-2017 and the election of the Second Council of ISAE reinforced the platform construction for communication between Chinese AE scientists and technicians and international AE experts, promoted the development, popularization and application of China AE technology, and enhanced the international status and international influence of China AE testing technology.
